The Upper Valley Aquatics Boosters is a grass roots group of area residents who have come together across the PRSA community to support our wonderful Howard Hopkins Memorial Pool in Leavenworth.
“We are a coalition to build enthusiasm, direction, support, and funds for our community pool in Leavenworth with the goal to create for the upper valley a vibrant year-round aquatics center that preserves
a natural outdoor feel.”
What is the PRSA?
What is the Upper Valley Parks and Recreation Service Area (PRSA)?
The Upper Valley Parks and Recreation Service Area, frequently known as the PRSA, is a voter-approved Special Purpose District that was formed in 1997. The PRSA is a legal entity separate from the City of Leavenworth and is governed by a volunteer board with representatives from Chelan County, the City of Leavenworth, Peshastin Community Council, the Chumstick community, and Cascade School District. Collected PRSA funds go to the operation and maintenance of the Howard Hopkins Memorial Pool and cover approximately half of the current pool operations and maintenance budget.
Our Current Role
From programming to maintenance and safety to staffing, a community pool is only as successful as the community that supports it. The Upper Valley Aquatics Boosters (UVAB), formerly referred to as “Friends of the Pool,” is a grassroots group of Upper Valley area residents who wish to build a community culture that cherishes our public pool and views it as a treasured asset. We strive to increase awareness of the value that a thriving aquatics center brings to our community.
Our Goals
In partnership with the folks of the Upper Valley Park and Recreations Service Area Board (PRSA) and the Community Pool Operations Management, the UVAB wishes to make our pool a vibrant focal point of this community.
Through this partnership we will promote successful aquatics programs that address safety, health, athletic, and socialization needs in our community.
Our immediate goal is to increase an awareness of the value and benefits our community gains from a thriving aquatic facility in the Upper Valley.
Furthermore, we will support any fundraising efforts necessary to maintain, improve, expand, and protect this precious legacy for all Upper Valley residents and their families.
Ultimately, the UVAB wants to help make the community’s desire for a year-round pool become a reality.
What can you do NOW to support the efforts of the UVAB?
SIGN UP to be kept informed about UVAB efforts and to be contacted for possible opportunities to share your time and/or talent.
SHARE with others how much you value & enjoy our community pool!
JUMP IN and participate in pool activities such as swim lessons, water aerobics, lap swimming, or swim team.
DONATE to help defray the costs of hosting the next Splash Bash, promoting a "Build the Pool" campaign, publishing and advertising expenses, etc.
As a side note, much of the 2024 campaign to “Save our Pool” was possible due to not only the work and effort, but also the personal financial contributions from the UVAB working team (Hanne Beener, Reese Bradburn, Justin Carvitto, Stevie Clifton, Brian Decker, Mara Meritt, Ann Murray, Celeste Peterson, Kurt Peterson, Shane Thayer, Sharon Waters ). Much of this was because UVAB did not have the ability to accept donations. We now do! If you would like to support the future efforts of the Upper Valley Aquatics Boosters, please consider clicking on the "Donate" link above or scanning the UVAB Venmo QR code below to contribute. (Note: we are not a tax-deductible organization at this time, but we are working on it!).
